ANNA GREENHOUS

Researcher, Presenter & Educator

Anna  works freelance in sake and wine. She has previously written regularly for Harpers (UK drinks trade magazine) and other food/drink, and Japan-related publications. Following extensive research, she wrote course book sections for the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 course in Sake on the Japanese sake industry, international sake breweries, the Japanese and international sake markets. She also appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme ‘The Sake Revelation’.

She has presented wine and sake tastings for L’Atelier des Chefs cookery schools, done wine research work for Tim Atkin MW, IWC Sake judging, drinks PR research work, tasting event management and drink promotional work.

Anna holds the WSET (Wine and Spirits Education Trust) Level 3 Certificate in Wine and Spirits with Distinction and is currently studying for the WSET Diploma. She also holds the WSET Level 3 in Sake, and is a qualified and experienced school teacher.

Anna has been interested in wine since she was little, always keen to try whatever her parents were drinking. She became interested in sake after trying premium daiginjo-sake for the first time, researching a drinks' column for an ex-pat magazine in Japan. Surprised by the tropical fruit flavours weaned by the brewers from rice, she has been keen to spread the word ever since.

Interested in all drinks, she has brewed beer and makes infused spirits in her free time. Anna is also a keen traveller; having worked and lived in Japan, Syria, The West Bank and Nepal, she is always excited to learn about different cultures, food and drink! She usually lives in London, England but is currently living in Kampala, Uganda.

Please do get in touch should you be interested to find out more about sake or wine. Anna is available to write about sake or wine, present tastings, do research, promotional work and judging on a freelance basis.
